Collection: Head Lice and Nits
What are Head Lice and Nits?
Head lice are tiny parasitic insects that live on the scalp and feed on blood, causing intense itching, scalp irritation, and discomfort. Nits are the lice eggs, firmly attached to hair strands near the scalp. They hatch within a few days, making infestations challenging to eliminate without thorough and repeated treatment.
Head lice spread easily through direct head-to-head contact, or indirectly through shared personal items like combs, hats, towels, or pillows. While they do not carry disease, they can cause distress and persistent irritation.
Managing head lice naturally involves killing live lice, loosening and removing nits, and maintaining scalp and hair hygiene to prevent reinfestation.
Natural Support for Head Lice & Nits
To help eliminate lice, soothe scalp irritation, and prevent reinfestation, the following product are available in our online store and are grouped according to their product category for easy reference:
🟤 Category: Tinctures
Product: Rosemary Tincture
Rosemary has natural antimicrobial and insect-repelling properties that make it highly effective against lice. It helps to kill live lice, loosen stubborn nits, and soothe an itchy or irritated scalp when applied topically with a carrier oil.
Natural Ways to Get Rid of Head Lice & Nits
To effectively eliminate lice and prevent their return, consider the following natural strategies:
Apply Rosemary Tincture – Mix with a carrier oil (like coconut oil) and massage into the scalp. Leave for at least 30 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Repeat every 7 days.
Use a Fine-Tooth Comb – Comb through damp hair section by section to remove lice and nits after applying the remedy.
Wash Personal Items Thoroughly – Wash all bedding, hairbrushes, hats, and clothing in hot water and dry on high heat to prevent infestation.
Use Essential Oils – Lavender, tea tree, and neem oil may help repel lice when added to shampoo or scalp treatments.
Avoid Sharing Personal Items – Do not share combs, hats, scarves, or pillows during or after an outbreak.
Repeat Weekly – Because lice eggs hatch in 7–10 days, it is vital to repeat treatment weekly for at least two to three weeks.
