Collection: Xiphodynia - Xiphoidalgia
What is Xiphodynia (Xiphoidalgia)?
Xiphodynia is a condition characterized by pain or tenderness around the xiphoid process — the small bone located at the bottom of the sternum (breastbone). The discomfort may feel similar to heartburn or certain types of chest pain and is often aggravated by movement, bending, or applying pressure to the area.
Common causes include chest trauma or strain, inflammation of the cartilage, lifting heavy objects, poor posture, or post-surgical effects in the chest or upper abdominal region. While not usually serious, the symptoms can be uncomfortable and may interfere with daily activities.
